Conservative political consultant Alex Bruesewitz expressed his disapproval of Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, in the legislator’s efforts to win the state Senate’s District 7 seat. He also voiced his favorable support of former St. Johns County Sheriff David Shaor, who’s running against Leek, during an interview with Florida’s Voice.

Bruesewitz pointed to Leek’s involvement in the state’s insurance crisis, arguing that Leek is particularly to blame for the situation.

“President Trump has totally reshaped and remade the Republican Party of Florida greatly in his image and we need that to continue if Florida wants to continue to stay red,” he said. “We need more Trump allies and Leek is not a Trump ally.”

“We can’t afford to have people in important states like Florida that are not with us,” he continued. “So it’s my hope that the entire MAGA movement rallies behind Sheriff Shoar and rejects ‘liberal Tom Leek.’”
